Routine

Lucy is a creature of routine. This is no surprise as Marnie and I are the same way. For the past 5 days Lucy has added something new to her morning routine, a full on toddler melt down. They last anywhere from an hour to a couple of minutes. I will be sitting down with the parenting book this afternoon during nap time to see if it has any helpful advice.

My How They Grow

Lucy is almost 27 months old. Her language skills have exploded once again. She is in full on two year old mode. Her sleep yet again has changed and we are no longer sleeping through the night. She has developed a sense of humor. At night when Marnie puts her to bed she tells Lucy just before she leaves the room "I love you like sunshine," and now Lucy responds back "I love you like chicken." Clearly this is some attempt at toddler humor. She is snuggly and sweet and testing every boundary known to man. The other day she was playing in the back yard and the big plastic car she drives around got stuck and she needed help repositioning it. So she stuck her head in the door and said to me as I washed dishes "Mama I stuck in traffic. Help mama! Help, I stuck in traffic, MAMA!!!" She has started crinkling up her nose when she laughs, it is really cute. A couple of days ago Marnie discovered that Lucy has started to recognize letters. You can say to her show me the letter B and she will point it out on her ABC puzzle. And it seems she can do that with about 5 or 6 other letters. We were surprised and delighted. Marnie promptly looked at me and said "Brown here she comes." Who knows really, but as a poor reader all though school I am hopeful this means she dodged that bullet. This is a really really challenging age, but it is by far, so far, the most most rewarding and delightful.
